I have a blackberry phone (verizon) and I want to transfer my contacts onto my computer. Can this be done?

Yes, install the Blackberry Desktop Manager from the CD you got with your phone or download it from Blackberry. This allows you to back up any and everything from your Blackberry

Better instructions:
Download and install BB Desktop Manager from here:
http://na.blackberry.com/eng/services/desktop/
Once installed plug your phone into your computer using a USB cable (phone first computer second)
Click on Backup and Restore
Click Start under Backup and select a folder to save all of the data on your phone
Repeat weekly
If you ever need to restore your phone open Desktop Manager – Backup and Restore and select Start under Restore (plug your phone in first obviously)
