Why Is There an Icon Next to My Contacts on My Android Phone?

I just got the samsung galaxy s from tmobile. I noticed that all my old contacts from my other phone have an icon of a persons head on it, but all my new contacts have an icon of a phone. Why is this? And is this part of the reason that I can only add people with phone icons to my “friend” lists?

Hey RHG,
The contacts page on my SGS looks like this, from left to right-

-Head and shoulders icon ( or photo if I have that persons photo set to appear on screen when they call )

-Name of contact

-SIM icon ( to show that I am using contacts from my SIM card — If i was using contacts stored in the phone memory it is a phone icon )
