Is There Android App to Stop Apps from Automatically Starting?

<strong>Royce L asks:

Hey Royce L,
There are some, but they don\’t work very well. You can search for “auto start” in the Market, and you\’ll find a bunch that claim to be able to do it. But you dont need one- here\’s why:
Android apps re-launch themselves according to a given set of rules. Example: you make a phone call, and X, Y, and Z apps re-launch themselves. But they\’re really not using any memory, processor, or battery, since you didnt really open them- they\’re just sitting there dormant in the background, ready to be used if needed. That\’s how Android works, and it also does a great job of managing apps- it automatically closes ones that you arent using, or aren\’t using anymore, if it needs more room. Thats also why its bad to use a task killer to force them to close- they\’re just gonna re-launch themselves again next time you make a call or whatever it was, using more battery life. Multiply that by the number of times that you kill apps in an average day, and task killers actually end up ruining your battery instead of helping it.
